While pursing his Masters in Music Education, Scott served as the Music Education Graduate Assistant from August 2021 through June 2023. Duties included aiding with grading and instruction for MUS 274 (Primary Ensemble Methods) and MUS 261 (Secondary Band Methods) courses and supervising the clinical teaching components of those classes. https://finearts.illinoisstate.edu/music/
From 2015-2021 Scott served as the Director of Bands at Roanoke-Benson School District. He directed their 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th/8th grade band, and the high school band as well as teaching sectional lessons and 4th grade general music. The bands were very active performing in marching band, pep band, and concert band roles throughout the year and participating in solo & ensemble contest and organizational contest through the IHSA each Spring. Scott was also the coach for the junior high scholastic bowl team, winning regionals several times and even taking the team to state one year. Taking the high school band and choir to perform at Disney World in Florida with choir colleague Jake Behrens was also a highlight.
For the 2014-2015 Scott served as the Director of Bands at Central Intermediate as a long-term substitute teacher filling a maternity-leave position. He directed their 5th grade band, 6th grade band, 7th/8th grade band, and extra-curricular jazz band as well as co-teaching 4th grade general music.
