Recitals and Solo Performances

Scott has given two recitals at Illinois State University performing a wide variety of pieces on both. From unaccompanied 20th century works, beautiful lyric pieces, multi-movement compositions, to an arrangement for horn, piano, and 3 percussionists, Scott's recitals have showcased the wide range and varied genres possible on the horn. Scott also performs on horn regularly as a soloist and a member of brass ensembles as a part of worship services at Normal First United Methodist Church in Normal, IL.

Ensemble Playing

Scott has performed in every large instrumental concert ensemble on Illinois State University's campus including University Band, Symphonic Band, Symphonic Winds, Jazz I, Wind Symphony, and most recently as horn section leader of the ISU Symphony Orchestra.

Big Red Marching Machine

Scott spent 6 years in Illinois State University's Big Red Marching Machine in the trumpet and mellophone sections. During that time he served as Band Manager for 1 year and on Visual Staff for 2 years. The highlight performances from BRMM would be a performance at Soldier Field for a Chicago Bears halftime show and a performance at Memorial Field for a University of Illinois vs. Illinois State University football game.

The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps

Scott spent the summers of 2009, 2010, and 2011 competing with The Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps based out of Toledo, Ohio. Competing in Drum Corps International's World Class division, The Glassmen was a finalist contender for 2 of the 3 seasons Scott spent in the mellophone section with them. The corps traveled around the country from June-August performing and competing in intricate field show performances. There were, and still are, only about 24 such ensembles of it's kind in the country.

International Horn Symposium Performance

The Illinois State University Horn Studio was selected to perform at the annual International Horn Symposium. In August of 2022, the ensemble of 17 students traveled South to Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas where the event was being held. The performance of several pieces was put on in the University's beautiful concert hall and was very well received.
